Aigra Velha is an excellent place to discover the Serra da Lousã and some of its attractions, as it is less than 4 km from several points of interest such as: the Oitava Forest Park, which includes a picnic area (3 km away); the Ribeira da Pena with its waterfalls (2 km away) or Trevim - the highest point in the Serra da Lousã (3.8 km away).
It's a perfect place to rest, but it can also be the starting point for exploring the other three Schist Villages belonging to the municipality of Góis (Aigra Nova, Comareira and Pena), or the mountains and their hiking trails. The PR 1 GOI - Caminho Aldeias de Góis Rota das Tradições do Xisto and the PR 9 GOI - Caminho do Xisto das Aldeias de Góis - Trilho do Baile trails pass through here.
It can also be the starting point for getting to know the town of Góis and other towns in the region, such as Lousã, Serpins, Vila Nova de Poiares, Miranda do Corvo or Penela, with their attractions and points of interest (such as castles, museums, chapels, viewpoints and swings, walkways or river beaches, among many others).
The National Road 2 is just 8 km away.
Finally, it's worth paying attention to all the fauna and flora you can see... and hear:
deer and foxes, eagles and crows, the cuckoo that sings here during the day or the owls that hoot at night;
chestnut and oak trees, birches and pines and so many wild flowers in so many colors... and in autumn mushrooms, magnificent or edible.
